Traditional Blacksmithing Skills

Aaron Petersen grew up watching his father work with metal sculpture. This is where his love for blacksmithing comes from.

This film shows the making of a Ram’s Head Poker. Forged, split and twisted from a single metal bar.

Aaron says he doesn’t believe that “These creatures we make, using Earth, Air, Fire and Water are said to be possessed with magic – they have a soul, if you like”

However, as he forms the Ram’s head, he refers to the sculpture as “Him” and adds nostrils “So he can breathe” and eyes “So he can see”.

Aaron’s passion and talent is clear to see and the finished animal is a delight.

  1. Another fantastic video, I really love watching a craftsman create something from the simplest of ingredients.
