Peter Dibble explains how he came to be a full-time basket weaver.
Originally destined for a desk job, he realised that he would rather not be an office worker. He tried to fit in basket weaving around part time jobs but found that – as with many traditional crafts, the output and labour does not always equal the required income.
He says it was only when he decided to weave full-time that he was able to build up the speed he needed to effectively turn his hobby into a reasonable living.
He feels lucky to have a supportive family and receptive customers and has finally been able to turn a passion into a business.
